Shakespeare Poster

The Brief
Create 2 posters, one using computer programs like Illustrator or Photoshop. And the other poster uses any other physical mediums like cut paper or collage.
My Interpretation
I chose the play 'The Comedy of Errors', which is about 2 brothers who get mistaken for each other and hilarity ensues. So for my design, I made a wanted poster style with the 2 brothers facing each other.
For my physical medium, I decided to create a linocut print, using a rubber linocut block and cutters. And for the computer-made one, I used Illustrator; for both, I used the same design, but they turned out differently.
Handmade Poster

The left photo is a progress shot of my linocut; it was very tedious work, and it took a while to get the hang of it since I had never done something like this before, but it was also very fun to do something new. The right is a picture of the finished project. I found some paper that had a very distressed texture to give it an old-timey look. I like how the ink and paper have a very natural feel to them and how there are some inconsistencies in the inking.
Computer-made Poster

I used the same concept as my handmade one, but I was able to make some much-needed tweaks to make the design better. In my opinion, the type treatment on this one is much more successful because the hierarchy is better. I wanted to give this one the same kind of texture that I had on the other one; it was harder to achieve, but I still think it turned out well.
