Whitehill Stone House

Signs

The Whitehill Stone House is a historical house in Ryegate, Vermont, that was built in 1798 and has been in my family ever since.  Every summer, we have a reunion where family members from all over the country gather together at the house, and we always have fun.  The first reunion was in 1928, where there were 800 members.  I made these signs to go at the bottom of the road that leads to the house, and also to direct people from town.  We are trying to get more community involvement from the surrounding towns,  shying away from just family members coming to the reunions and making more of a community space to learn more about the historical house that many people don't even know exists.

Brochure

This brochure is to give people information about not only the history of the house but also what the plans are.  I created a vectorized version of the original stone house and the cairn.  The cairn is a monument that is made of stone; it marks the place where the first houses were built.  The stones came from all the members of the first reunion, almost a hundred years ago.

There was a lot of information that we needed to convey, to tell people the history of the stone house.  I used stars in the background and in between the sections because there was information about our family in the military.  On the whole, this was a really fun project. After all, I got a lot of creative freedom with the design because I was doing this to help my family and to get some real-life experience.

The Reunion

I was tasked with taking pictures at the reunion this year.  Every year, we take a group photo to document who's there and how many people are there.  I also took some pictures throughout the reunion. It was really fun to do this; usually, I just go through this experience, but when I had to look around and take pictures actively, I noticed a lot more about the surroundings.
